  • My girlfriend also received the similar call in Toronto, Canada. This company asked for $200 to be delivered by Western Union. The details for sending the money was:
    NAME:............ NFUAH RICHARD PIKWA
    CITY:............... DOUALA
    ZIP CODE:........ 00237
    COUNTRY.......... CAMEROON

Thanks to this website that she saved herself from loosing $200 from these people. They are total scam!

  • Hi tiffi66,

I'm so sorry to hear that you fell victim to this scam. This person is not affiliated with uShip in any way - they impersonated a uShip employee and misrepresented the way our site works in order to gain your trust.

I am assuming you found this puppy on a pet listing classified site. If that's the case, then they probably also asked for payment via Western Union, Money Gram, or some other wire transfer service. We do not allow our site member to request money via these methods due to the high rate of fraud associated with them. Also, uShip is an online marketplace, not a pet transport service. Lastly, all communication from true uShip employees come from the '@uship.com' domain. I can guarantee you didn't receive any communication from that domain.

If you have any questions about how the site works, feel free to contact us at [email protected].

  • This reported instance is NOT in any way related to www.uShip.com (uShip, Inc.), but rather describes an instance where a person or people have fraudulently used uShip’s name, logo, etc. without consent. uShip is an online marketplace where those who need shipping services can list their needs and receive bids from independent transporters. uShip is NOT involved in the actual shipment of any items, and uShip is NOT involved in the purchase or sale of any items. We have been made aware of scams occurring on various online classified sites where the seller of an item makes false and fraudulent claims about uShip and/or impersonates a uShip representative in an attempt to trick individuals into sending them a wire transfer payment for non-existent goods.

We are extremely sorry to hear that you have fallen victim to one of these scams. In an effort to prevent future occurrences of this fraud, we strongly encourage you to contact the online classified site where the ad was found as well as the Internet Crime Complaint Center (www.ic3.gov) to report this fraud. If you’d like to read more about this particular type of scam, review uShip’s scam alerts blog here: www.ushipscams.com

  • Matthew - Thanks for the words of guidance. In fact I never paid a dime and was very suspicious when they initially said that they had transportation arranged for the puppies from Arkansas to San Diego in one day on the 4th of July. Hmmmm. This is not uship.com protocol and I knew better. They are using the business name, complete with your website logo to legitimize their scheme. I sincerely did not know that they could do that legally so wanted to warn others to be wary. My daughter posted the report using my name and I apologize for any misrepresentations she may have made. • Sharon - I am sincerely sorry that you were scammed, however you really should do more research before falsely libeling our company, uShip.com. We are in no way affiliated with this scam and this scammer has impersonated our trusted brand to lure you in. Please remove or rewrite this post to prevent even more collateral damage from this.

In the future, NEVER use Western Union or wire transfer to people you don't know or anyone in Africa - it is ALWAYS a scam. A small amount of research and some common sense would have prevented this in the first place.

  • Hello Neil,

I'm sorry to hear that an individual or group of people fooled you into believing they were uShip.com. I believe you came across a scam where our company was impersonated to gain your trust. uShip.com is a online shipping marketplace where those who need something shipped can find a provider who can offer transport services.

uShip is not a transporter and does not sell, purchase or hold any items. We are simply an online platform that helps connect shippers with service providers.

I encourage you to report the ad to the site where you found these people as fraudulent.

    -Andre, uShip Member Support
