I have a 16yr. old furnace. I called for a repairman on
2/23/12. He told me I had a leak in the upper heat exchanger. He
also told me it was a common problem with this model and that he
had changed Many of them. Est.-$650.00 to$700.00+.
I told him to order parts and set a time for the repairs.
He called me this morning and told me that particular part was not
available from Amana. If it was a common problem why then are
they (Amana)not still making them? So I ask him what are my options? He said a new furnace....$3800.00+
I find the Whole scenario suspicous at best. Hope you can help and advise me before I make the decision.
