I was replying to an ad that I had found on Craigslist.com. It was a guy who was looking for a house keeper so I sent him an email. He emailed me back and said that they job was Monday through Thursday for only three hours a week and the compensation was $400 a week. He said that his financier was only authorized to send one check so he was sending me a check for $2,950 and he wanted me to deposit that into my bank account and then immediately send $2,500 via Western Union to his art seller before his art pieces that he wanted to buy got sold to someone else and then I would get to keep $450. The $400 for my first weeks pay and an extra $50 for running the errands. He said that as soon as I sent the money to the art seller she would send me the keys to his house so that I could start cleaning. I did exactly as he requested. I sent him a confirmation email and told him that I sent the $2,500 and that it cost me $131 to do so. The next day the check bounced and my bank account was negative $2,631. I knew at that point that I had been scammed so I didn't send him another email. Two days later I received another check for $3,500. I sent him an email letting him know that his first check had bounced but that I had received his second check. He responded saying that he knew the first check would bounce. He did that on purpose to see if I was trustworthy. He sent a check for a larger amount to help with what I lost and he wanted me to keep $1,000 and send another $2,500. I am not going to deposit the check because I now know it's a scam.

  • Did he tell you he was from Holland. I put up and ad and he responded. He told me about the big check and I was a bit suspicious so I looked him up and was led to this. He told me the exact same story. Thank you for putting this up.
