I was contacted by a Washington, DC number, 202-717-9058, telling me that I had been approved for a grant that I had applied for during the summer. She told me that in order to receive the grant, I would need a licensed grant to write a 9 page grant proposal. I did not know a licensed grant writer, so I was recommended to First Option Financial Services who had a 97% approval rating for getting this type of grant. She gave me the number, and I called, 850-512-1803. The man who called me back was Mr. Ted Cooks, and he explained to me very thoroughly what I needed to do. I was given a government contract number and everything. The number was PTY23039, and they even sent me a contract stating that I would be reimbursed if the grant did not go through. They even sent me to BBB, and I saw that they had a A+ accredited rating. I checked BBB, and it now says the company is unaccredited. They charged me $488, so I sent them a cashier's check in the mail on January 13, 2012. They told me in order to process my request, they needed the tracking number. He informed me that I would receive a draft of the grant proposal between January 23-27th. In the meantime, I had to prepare quotes and make a cost analysis of how I would allocate the money. I sent two weeks traveling back to my home town to view and select the property, get insurance quotes, and get quotes for everything else on my cost analysis. It is now, February 2nd, and the draft has yet to arrive, and no one is answering the phone. I have contacted the Attorney General's office in Florida, and I will be contacting the BBB. I want my money back.
