AARP an organization that presents itself as an advocate for Senior citizens will not allow its members who are enrolled in their MedicareRx Preferred plan (insured through United Health Care) to avail themselves of the Generic Lipitor (which recently became avaiable) for the next six months. I know this because I am a member of this plan as is my wife who takes Lipitor. I tried to get a tier change and was denied by AARP . I also know that Horizon Blue Cross/Blue Shield is now charging it's members only $7.00 for a month supply for Lipitor since January. I know this through a relative of mine. Compare that to the $42.00 a month charged by AARP.
I read that some companies cut rebate deals with Pfizer (the manufacturer of Lipitor)which obviously AARP seems to be one ,if they would hold off making the Generic Lipitor available to its members for 6 months.
Again I think that THE leading Organization who represents itself as THE Spokesman and Advocate for American Seniors to not make this savings available to its members is unconscionable and that the American people should be made aware of this!!
