Accidently called the wrong number when attempting to call the phone company and 123 Assist answered. After I requested the number for verizon the girl asked for my number and then launched into a fast talking pitch about a hundred dollar walmart gift certificate she was going to GIVE me for my "inconvenience". I interrupted her saying I didn't want a gift certificate, just the number. Again she went into the pitch, this time saying there would "only be a $3.95 charge" and asking for my personal info. I laughed and said I'd obviously called a scam operation and she became pretty irritated...pushing harder to get my info. I said no way, not interested and hung up while she was still pushing for my info. I feel for the gullible people who will give out their info to these obvious crooks.
The number I accidently called was 888-367-8437. Hope someone can get these crooks shut down.
