I joined Christianmingle.com. George contacted my first and wanted to instant message on yahoo.com. After the first few days, he said he was madly in love with me and he lived in Beverly Hills, had this huge house with a pool in it, etc. He also had an 11 yr old son. He had to go to the UK to sign a contract to build a 5 star hotel and then supposed went to Accra, Ghana to survey the site. After 2 weeks he was talking about having a ring made for me and had me looking for houses where I live, so he could relocate, even sent me a picturs of an escalate he was going to buy me. And he was going to buy some gold for a good price and set up a jewelry shop in my name. Well, his son supposedly was bugging him to come see me, so he wanted money to send him to me and had problems getting his band to wire him the money, or some such thing. So at first I sent $200. Then he said that wasn't enough and needed $500 more so they could both come. Well, I sent it and on the way to the airport they were supposed to have been in an accident. The hotel manager, Michael, called me and was very upset and when I asked which hospital they were in, he said he'd call me back. The next call I got was from the supposed Dr.Andrew, who wanted $500 to treat them. I told him I'd have to see about that. I instead called the US Embassy and was told that no such person was in the hospital and the lady there told me almost word for word the scamming that was going on in Africa. She said they target christian websites to scam. We're good people. He really had me going. Please not ladies, that there are a lot of smooth talkers out there. I've been on Match.com the past 3 days and at least 10 men have contacted me saying they are contractors in Malaysia, West Africa, The Republic of Benin, in Afghanistan, Iraq, etc. and once I start talking to them and telling them about being scammed and I'm on my guard, they usually get the message. Watch out! Don't even send money. It's been a hard lesson to learn and my mortgage payment will be behind. But it won't happen again.
