I was selling an Apple MacBook Pro 17" Laptop on Amazon. I received an email from [email protected] saying that they wanted to purchase the laptop for their friend who is in Nigeria but they were unable to buy the laptop on Amazon. They offered to pay me through PayPal. I had a PayPal account so I agreed to the transaction.

I received an email that looked EXACTLY like the PayPal emails I usually get. It said that the money has been transferred to my account and that it should take 24 hours to be processed due to the large amount. I checked my account the entire week and I did not see the money in my PayPal account. I then received an email saying that the laptop was unable to be given to the person in Nigeria due to the shipping customs. The fake PayPal demanded me to send fees through Western Union to Nigeria customs in order to get the laptop shipped to the recipient. The total came out to be $2300.00. After I would make a payment to Western Union, I would always getting an email from the fake PayPal saying I had to complete another step which required more money.

I began to grow suspicious so I contacted a PayPal representative and I was told that it was a scam. I copied the email address that sent me the fake PayPal email and pasted it on the Google search engine. I then found articles about that email address being notorious for scamming people. I was one of the people that got scammed unfortunately because I shipped the laptop assuming the payments were verified by PayPal.

  • Hi, Sometimes they are Not Scam, It is Just that the Person who sells it to you did not Know the Procedure i am a Account Holder on Amazon too and i have sold My Apple IMac to someone who asked me to ship to Nigeria. i felt it is a Scam but until i did mail it off and i have to Pay for a Custom Bill and Ndlea Bills before they got My Money to me.. Ikll advice you to Talk the Buyer maybe that is the Cause. Ask Him/Her if the Laptop was seized by their Custom. Thank you..
