I purchased a Denon AVR-1912 A/V receiver on 10/30/2011 for $437 (free shipping) + "handling fees". The next day a guy called me to confirm the order and sold me the extended warranty which brought the total to $526.33.

I was expecting a tracking ID of the shipment, but, when I didn't receive one after a week I called them and was told that they don't release one if the customer doesn't call and request for it.

I was given a FedEx tracking ID which I kept checking almost every day, but the status never changed from "Initiated...". After waiting for 2 weeks, I called them to find out what was going on.

I was told FedEx returned the package because they damaged it beyond repairs and that they didn't have that model in stock so my options were to wait for that model to become available OR to buy the newer model which was "only" $60 more. To which I asked if I could cancel the order and was told yes. So, I did.

Now, as part of this cancellation process, I was asked whole bunch of questions which, to me, sounded inappropriate, like, where I was purchasing the product from and how much I was paying for it, etc.

I was told I would be refunded within 14 business days.

Sure enough, 14 business days passed and I didn't see the credit. So, I called them, I was told I didn't cancel my order and that my product was shipped. After explaining the whole story, the guy put me on hold to verify and came back and said that he's issuing a refund and that I should receive it in a few days.

After that point I pretty much called them every other day only to repeat the same experience.

Every time I was told my order wasn't cancelled and every time I had to explain the whole story and the guy verified it and said I should be receiving my refund shortly.

After spending weeks plaing the same game every other day, one day I lost my temper and the guy told me that I couldn't talk to him that way and that he doesn't care about my problem and PURPOSEFULLY put me on hold taunting me.

At this point, I contacted my credit card company and opened a dispute on the charges. They've issued a temporary credit while they investigate the issue.

PS: Every time I called I was on hold for at least 20 minutes before anyone answered the phone and even then I wasn't able to talk to the right person a lot of time. So, I had to call back and stay on the phone for another 20 minutes.
