  • Pauline, I too fell victim to a scam by a company promoting an "anti-wrinkle" cream. They advertised a "14 day trial period"'of "PuraSilk". Within a few hours of my accepting their offer AND their "terms and conditions", I was notified by my email inbox that I had received mail from a company I had never heard of, called Natural Health Network. I immediately investigated it and it was a letter "Welcoming me" and telling me a I was also eligible to download a Free book by an alleged "skin care" specialist, however I was more interested in the invoice that was typed underneath the letter which showed total charges on my Credit card for $25.87! I decided the best course of action was to act quickly and notify my credit card co. of unauthorized charges. Imagine my surprise when I was told that natural health net had also placed a charge of $89.99 the same day I placed the order for the 14 day trial. Next I phoned natural health net in Southern California and was informed by the telephone operator

Imagine my surprise when I was told that natural health net had also placed a charge of $89.99 the same day I placed the order for the 14 day trial. Next I phoned natural health net in Southern California and was informed by the telephone operator that I had agreed to their terms and conditions which allowed them to charge up to $150 per month on my credit card even before I received the 14 day trial! I was furious! I phone that company again and asked for a RMA which stands for return merchandise authorization number. I received a package within four days and wrote the RMA all over the box. Then I took it to the UPS store or you could try the post office, and paid extra shipping charges for a tracking number. it cost me $15.50, U.S money, But it was worth it because they could not say they did not receive it back into their warehouse within the 14 day trial. that is what the company is hoping we will not do! Also, I have a very good credit card company which stated they would help me dispute any charges over the $25.87 original charge. Because I acted swiftly and followed the company directions exactly, they had to legally give me back all of my money except the $4.95 shipping and handling as advertised in their ad for PuraSilk. Because their company headquarters are in Southern California, and their warehouse is on the East Coast, I believe they deliberately try to confuse the customers! I did not even open the box but just sent it right back that very same day I received it. It did cost me over US$15 but it was well worth it so they could not continue to charge me, Also the mysterious charge of $89.99 that their company tried to place on mu credit card

  • Sorry about ending my suggestion so abruptly. As was saying, the $89.99 that had been placed on my credit card was gone since I had also closed the credit card (fortunately I have a back-up credit card I use for emergencies such as I thought this was one was, which proved to be true!) so they could not make any more charges, But for those who don't have a backup credit card I suppose you will have to do with out your credit card until you receive a new one. I believe it was the best idea to close that credit card! Amazingly My credit card ststement did show that they credited my account back all of the money they originally charged me Except for the $4.95 shipping. That plus the $15 is the small price to pay for my being gullible and being a victim of their scam. I learned to always read the terms and conditions before I accept any agreement or contract and to follow my instincts if I think or feel there is something not right. There are so many companies out there all over the world ready to scam us. They sell facial cream under many names but this scam is the same. As far as reporting them to the police they can do nothing to help us here in California US. Reporting them to the Better Business Bureau is a better idea however you need to know the state in which the company is registered. In the case of PuraSilk, it is so ld by " natural health work " where they have telephone operators and "customer service" people who are probably paid the minimum wage and are taught to repeat those words. "terms and conditions" which is how they "trap" us Legally exclamation it is not fair but it is legal. Another idea is to report it to the chamber of commerce if you can find out the city in which they do business. also, always check out the business before you go into any agreement with their company especially when it's a an ongoing monthly credit card charge

  • In January I ordered free trial. Paid $5.96 and $2.95 on 12/1/2012 for what I thought was postage on free trials. Today I note my credit card has been debited with a further $49.28aud.(USD$51 Inc.txn fee for $1.44). I am angry because I thought this was a free trial. The old adage is true -"if it sounds too good, then it is dodgy". All I am concerned about is that they have my c/card no.. I do not want further deductions. UNLIKE OTHERS, I DID RECEIVE THESE GOODS, HOWEVER HAVE NOT USED THEM AS YET & HOPE THEY DO NOT CONSIDER IT A MONTHLY "WORK OUT".
