On December 9th 2011, I heard a radio advertisement on 97.9 in Dallas about a study being done in regards to consumer shopping habits. The study mentioned participants receiving a $1000 card good for any groceries they wanted to purchase at any grocery store of their choosing. I called the 800 number mentioned and began the process. The agent I spoke to went over a list of information as far as what I would receive after paying just $19.95 for shipping and handling to receive the documentation. The $19.95 even had a mail in rebate of $15.00 via a freeshipping.com voucher I would receive. The agent Literally said I would receive a $1000 card as well as info on other discounts programs related to trips, movie tickets, flowers, vitamins, basically anything entertainment related. I asked the agent three separate times during this conversation if I had to pay anything for the groceries after I received the card. The agent responded no and reassured me I would not have to pay anything else for the groceries but I would be charged a monthly fee for the freeshipping.com and leisureplus.com memberships I was automatically being signed up for if I did not call to cancel them within 30 days. I agreed, gave my payment info. A week or so later I received an envelope in information from leisureplus.com as well as an $8.00 charge on my debit card(I have disputed this with leisureplus.com and they will not refund it even though I did not sign up for anything and it has not been past the allotted 30 days). I also received an envelope of information from savings2go.com which ended up being the same thing as the leisureplus.com. I quickly cancelled the membership to both of those so I would not be charged anything. And finally I received the much anticipated $1000 card for the free groceries. Well, this card is basically a piece of cardboard directing me to www.advancedgrocerysavers.com where I would log in with the PIN on the card. The agent totally misled me to thinking the card was some sort of debit card considering I wouldn't have to pay anything more for the groceries. So I log in to the site and it's full of more program offers and two pages of coupons you can print which I found out is what the $1000 of "free" groceries is. What's even worse is the coupons are not even done by this company. They just redirect you to coupons.com which is a completely free site. This was a scam from the radio advertisement to the verbiage the agent used with me to the information I received to the website redirecting me to a free site I could go to on my own for coupons. This company needs to be shut down or sued for their obviously unethical advertising and subsequent business practices.
