Shady Tree Service / Michael Robitaille

Besides taking deposits for tree service that he never delivers, Michael Robitaille (860-941-9074) "buys" jewelry with bad checks. The check he gave to me on 8/18/11 (in the amount $1,430.41) for his purchase (a diamond ring for himself and diamond earrings for Vanessa, his accomplice) has been returned for reason of insufficient funds. He had promised many times in phone conversations (since I told him about the returned check on 8/25/11) that either he or Vanessa would come to my shop with cash to cover the bounced check. That never happened.

I know 3 people personally who were scammed by Michael Robitaille in the Tree Service area.

His accomplice Vanessa Coutant (Personal Information Removed) also took AVON products without paying for them, by promising to come back the next day with cash. Since I had been "working" with them to find a mounting for their over 2-carat diamond (which I never did see), we had met a few times before Michael wrote the bogus check.

They have traveled throughout New England and Pennsylvania (that I know of), so I want to warn others who might be taken by them. Michael is now in custody - he has been arrested and is in court in New London, CT today 12/12/11, but no one knows when he'll be out on the street and back to his antics again .... so beware!
