I emailed back/forth and talked on the phone with a man from match.com for 3 days who supposedly lives several states away from me. So, when I started to press him about us getting together so I would know who I was talking to, he suggested we Skype so I could see him. I called him and he said he didn't have a microphone, so we just typed back/forth, but it appeared that he was reacting appropriately to what I was saying... We continued to talk via Skype and phone for a week and I kept asking him to provide information about himself that I could check out, but he continued to be very vague. So, today I confronted him and his lies all fell apart. He admitted that he was not the same man I saw on Skype - said it was a "program" and he didn't know who the dude was - but, he would let me see him, which he did. Turns out, I was not talking to a white skinned, 47 year old chemical engineer in Baltimore! It was a 30-something dark skinned dude in Malaysia (well, that's where he said he lives). He then proceeded to hack into my match account - still not sure how he did that - and changed all my info. He is now going by the username: Spicy_Richard on match.com. I have reported to match that he stole my subscription, but have not heard back from them... I still can't believe I fell for this and have signed off on online dating FOREVER - it's just not worth the time or emotional energy when there are so many creeps and scammers on the internet!!! - Mary
