*Note: I never lost the $400.
I received multiple text messages during the week claiming that I needed to call this number(1-800-480-6963) in regards to my platinum card. "Platinum Card??" I thought. I don't own a platinum card. So I called the number to see what was going on.
A lady answered and said "This is Lisa, how may I help you?". I told her I had been getting text messages about a platinum card. She told me to wait one minute while she transferred me to someone who could help me. A man answered and said his name was John. He asked my name and I told him.
Then he told me I owed him $400 for an adult phone service. I said that it was impossible and I had made no such calls. He got rude with me and started yelling saying that the had my credit card number and a voice recording(which I asked him to play and it didn't sound anything like me). He said that I was going to jail for fraud. The more I tried to talk to him the more he argued with me.
I was called a liar and a thief then hung up on. I called back several times. Each time hung up on.
So then I did a reverse look-up of the number online and it said that the call was coming from "Allstate Communications Inc". I did a search of the company and it took me to a really shady site. So I contacted FTC Bureau of Consumer Protection(1-877-382-4357) and reported what had happened. The the told me to contact me to contact me State Attorney General(which I did). They filed a report and told me that if "Allstate Communications Inc" called me back to tell them that they were under the investigation of the FBI. After which I got curious and wonder if I called "Allstate Communications Inc" again, what would happen.
I did. The same guy "John" answered. I said what your companies name? He said "Preferred Platinum". I told him that I had reported him and that he. was under the investigation of the FBI. He told me that I would get arrested for lying to the authorities and hung up.
I then got online and typed in "Preferred Platinum Scam". It took me to all these sites about people reporting the same thing.
I wrote down all the numbers that contacted them and I called them. The same girl answered the phone every time. Then she'd transfer me to "John". Sometimes he'd try to disguise his voice but I could tell it was him. I would never say anything to him when she "transferred" me. He'd say the same thing every time "YES?...HELLO....HELLO....WELL I GUESS YOU'RE NOT GOING TO TALK TO ME THEN.....CLICK".
****::::IT IS A SCAM DON'T BE FOOLED AND PAY THESE PEOPLE. YOU WILL NOT GO TO JAIL!!
