Our company received a phone call from Business Acumen, Inc. offering to write a professional business plan and to pursue small business grant funding. Original agreement was for $7,500 of which I paid $3,750 up front and the balance was to be paid after the first grant was secured. I was lead to believe that the grants would come from corporate foundations investing into small business. Part of the plan would require me hiring additional employees (to put more Americans back to work).
They called approximately 8 weeks later to let me know that we aligned with a number of foundations for grant opportunities, however additional capital was required to process. I did not put additional funds in and have not heard from them since.
My follow ups went unanswered and now the phone is disconnected. The Office of the Secretary of State for Nevada shows that the company is currently registered and the registrants name is on file.
Please file with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. We need to put an end to companies that prey on small businesses.
