I had been a visitor for about a week at the end of March, when I decided to take the three day trial. Upon doing so I was really disappointed with the buggy software, and weird programing which allowed chat "popups" to interfere. and sometimes disrupt what you were doing. As for me, my chat window almost never worked, except long enough to meet my Lady, Love. My video cam never worked, and when I tried to follow the activation instructions; I wound up on the wrong website, a frustrating and expensive experience. When my trial period ended, I was billed for the regular monthly fee. Which I feel was exorbitant since, as
far as I know, it is the most expensive dating site around. What I was impressed with, was the quality of the ladies looking for a
quality guy. Well, during the course of the month, I developed a
a list of contact information of those members that I had met on
Mate1. So, I decided that I would not continue on the site. By this time I had met the "Girl of my Dreams",and had no desire to keep looking. So, I called up Mate1 and asked for my membership to be cancelled. I did this well in advance of my billing date. When I did this I was offered a month's free membership; which I did not accept, and I was offered the option of reconsidering my decision up to 9:00 pm on June 6th. I did not take the option, and I thought that was the last of it. Imagine my surprise when I checked my bank account on line, and found this debit "in process" for $49.95 at a time I can ill afford it ,and on a weekend so that I couldn't do anything about it. I tried calling Mate1 and all that I got was a busy signal. You would think that a worldwide dating site would have an answering service, or at least an answer program. The bank, of course, did have a program, but had no options for this kind of problem. Somebody screwed up and it was not me. Rather than cancel my membership as I had requested, Mate1 gave me the next month free, and kept me "on the books" in direct opposition to my stated desires. This , obviously, is due to either sloppy or nonexistant record keeping or outright fraud. Even if I get my money back, the damage has been done. To make it possible for the Girl that I met on Mate1 and I to actually meet is going to take every dollar I can scrape up. Having nearly $50.00 disappear from my checking account like this is truly disconcerting.

Update: 07/18/2011

07/12/11, I went to my bank. My banker called Mate1 and asked for a refund in my behalf. They agreed to refund me within 5 business days. I received it in 2. Your banker can help.
