I (stupidly) signed up to a company called Lilplay, to watch something online. I provided my bank details to do so. They offered a five day free trial. I cancelled my 'trial' membership after a few minutes, without having watched anything. This was at a charge of €1. I immediately received an email, confirming the cancellation of my Lilplay account.

Five days later, a sum of €45.81 was taken from my bank account, by a company called Film World Media. I phoned the company on 001-925-854-6848. There are automated voice options - I chose the option to speak to a customer representative.

The nice woman on the phone tried her best to get rid of me. DO NOT HANG UP THE PHONE YET. She told me that I had signed up to a company called Cinaplay. I told her that I had signed up to Lilplay, had cancelled my membership, received an email confirming this, yet had still been charged. She apologised and cancelled my account to Cinaplay (which I had never created myself in the first place).

I asked her if Cinaplay was somehow connected to Film World Media, and why I had been charged, when I didn't sign up for an account with them, AND had an email confirming that I had cancelled my account already.

She had no real answers for me. I asked for a refund. She again apologised and offered me three months free membership or a refund. I chose the refund.

She said the company's bank accounts were having problems at the moment (sure...) but they would deposit my refund in my PalPal account within 24-72 hours. I asked her to confirm that no more money would be taken, and she did so.

I don't yet know if I will see that refund, but at least I have the protection of PayPal on my side now.

Insist on your refund. They are a scam and they know it.
