Yesterday in US post I received what I believe is a new twist on an old scam. A Dr. Walter Barkely sent a letter representing a Sir Henry Picket. On official looking ltterheads. Dr. Barkley claims to be a sworn Lawyerspecialized in Inheritance Law. Representing a Sir Henry Picket who states in a 'copy" of a letter he wants his 2.87 million dollar inheritance to go to strangers rather than any family members. In the leter he speaks of differences of opinions in the types of wine enjoyed, claims to have amassed an immense fortune by saving money and strict budgeting and management of his finances. He goes on to state his sister "Ruth" squandered her shares of money? (As if this matters?)Then he demeans his daughter and son in law as foolish spendthrifts. Apparently SirHenry Picket is deceased?
All that being said,Dr. Barkley states my equal share would be $22,500 and I am among 24 names, somehow chosen, to benefit. Dr. Barkley, for reasons unknown,explains a relationship with Sir Henry on a friend / professional level.
Now page 2, the scam / sting. Dr. Barkley: address the Netherlands, has a form to be filled out. Check a box agreeing to accept. A box showing agree to pay $45 fee for formal registrations. A box for adding $5 for guaranteed priority shipping of official documents and $5 for a certified bank cheque.
Then space to sign, e mail address, method of payment.
The claim is 15 have already responded. Included is a small envelope without postage paid to a PO Box 1219, NL - 3600 BE Maarssen, the Netherlands. (I wouldn't even have a clue as to a postage amount.
I do not intend to send money, but I would like to return copies to the US postal service,as well as Dr. Barkley, stating this scam is a twist of the long running Nigerian scam, and so many others.

No I did not sign up for premium service. Of course I'd enjoy $22,500, but afford to set $55 on fire to light an illegal cuban cigar.
