My company had a merchant account with Evo. On March 11, 2015, my credit card terminal stopped working. Evo's tech support representative told me I needed to replace my current terminal with a new EMV card terminal. An Evo salesman, he claimed, would call to set up an appointment to come to my store and set up the new terminal. When a couple of days passed, and he didn't call, I contacted Evo to complain. Still, he didn't call. I made several more calls to Evo to get the salesman to contact me, all to no avail. Finally, on March 31, I opened a new merchant account with another firm. That same day, I called Evo to cancel my merchant account. The Evo rep told me I had to wait to hear back from someone at the"retention" department to finalize the cancellation, which would occur in 24-48 hours. No one called. I called back several times, expressing my concern that, because the cancellation wasn't finalized, my account would be debited for April. The Evo rep assured me that wouldn't happen. Finally, on May 8. 2015, I called Evo and the representative transferred me to the cancellation department who told me to send a fax indicating that I wish to cancel my merchant account. At this point, it looks like my account is finally closed, but not before Evo put me through a lot of aggravation and not before it debited my bank account a minimum charge of $12 per month for March and April. Bottom line: I want a refund of the $24 Evo debited my account—For March, because, for most of that month, I did not have an operational credit card terminal, and for April because I had already cancelled my account on March 31st.
