My son received a blue screen with fatal error message and a phone number for tech support. The man on the phone indicated that there was a virus on the computer that would eventually destroy the computer. He informed me that he was a Microsoft technician with ABC Repair Technician, and that his company could clean and optimize the computer remotely. He stated that the process would take between 4 and 6 hours to complete. This so called service would cost $250 and for an additional $300 they would install Webroot software with a lifetime license. When I informed my husband of what had happened he told me that he had heard last night on his way home from work about this scam. I did a search on google for abc repair and the first item on the search menu was abc repair scam. We will go to the bank this morning to see if we can stop payment on this charge. Please get the word out about this scam.
