My husband and I received a 'special invitation' to listen to an unspecified type of presentation in exchange for a free cruise.
We were suckers. They first tried to get us to fork over 4k just to join. When we said we weren't that 'flush' with $$, he accepted 2k. They sold us a dream that lasts only until the check clears the bank, and you're left holding a big file folder full of dreamy cruises at less-than-normal prices, under the 'guise' of being 'affiliated' with numerous other travel clubs that makes it able for them to offer such deals. I feel like a fool. I just got an annual statement for $199.00 PLUS $50 billing fee. I'm loathe to pay it, since we've never been able to really use their service to take a vacation like they sold us in our imaginations. We should have taken what was left of our tax refund (2k) and booked flights and hotel ourselves instead of giving it over to these crooks. I'm disappointed by all the red tape details and infinite restrictions and 'additional fees' for this scam. They basically sold us a dream, lowered the price just enough to where we could give them some money that day...and ran off into the sunset.
These jackals are highly skilled at what they do...and while I didn't believe myself to be 'easy' bait, they hooked my husband and me for 2k. I hate to see folks like us who work hard and can't take faraway trips, fall prey to the likes of these scoundrels. They play tropical music and all but put a glass of champaigne in your hand with a 'bon voyage' hat...we should have known better, but they won us over with a dream of the chance to take dreamy vacations for fractions of the normal cost. If it seems too good to be true, then you bet your sweet bippie it is. Save yourself! Go on Orbitz or priceline and do your own footwork for a LOT less money--and get the same or better savings! Island Traders is a gimmick that sells dreams. They're slicker than you might imagine...A+ for sliminess.
