On 12/16/2014 at 6:32pm mtn standard time I purchased an a driver update for 25 programs. Once the download started I contacted the tech by phone as requested by Driver Support. He asked to have access to the machine. which I agreed to. That was a huge mistake. While talking to me he started to browse my machine. Trying to convince me that it had serious security issues. Unaware of the fact that I had deactivated some aspects of the machine deliberately. When he opened a series of windows and left them open. I got suspicious and asked him what this had to do with my updates. Right after that my machine locked up. He then told me that for 125.00$ a tech on standby could fix the issue. As it turns out a reputable company (Fireball Tech) has determined that my registry has been encrypted. Thus the machine is unusable and the data will have to be recovered and my machine will then be formatted to windows 7.
