I started receiving telephone calls last Monday (12-8-2014) informing me that I had won a significant amount of money. I was first contacted by a person claiming to be a representative of Federal Express saying there was a package to be delivered to me on Friday, the 12th of December 2014. I declined to send him a payment of $2300.00 for what he called "insurance for the claim" prior to delivery of the prize winnings. He stated the prize as being for 2.5 million dollars and said it had to be insured before delivery could be made.
The next call (Tuesday 12/6/2014)was from someone claiming I had won a prize because of a coupon I had used. He also stated the amount of the prize to be 2.5million dollars but I would need to pay "processing fees" of $495.00 before the check could be released. I declined to pay him any money also.
My third call (Thursday 12//8/2014) was from someone claiming to be from the Federal Reserve Bank saying they had my check and all I would need to do would be to send them $2,500.00 and they could then release it to me. They stated the value of the prize as being 3.5 million dollars but I would need to send the money to them first. I also declined to send them any money.
The fourth call was from Reader's Digest supposedly who wanted to alert me of my winnings (2.5 million dollars) to be presented after a processing fee of $450.00 had been paid. I declined to send any money to him as well.

Today (Saturday 12/13/2014) I received a call from a Freddie Benjamin, who told me all those other calls had been scammers and he could help me claim my 4.5 million dollar prize. He even sent me an email showing acceptance policy, the Mercedes Benz I had won as an added bonus, and a copy of a check for 4.5 million dollars. In the body of the letter it was stated that there was a $700.00 registration and processing fee due prior to the delivery of the check and accompanying paperwork. I told him I was disabled and living with a fixed income made things difficult at times. He countered with the statement that the $700.00 didn't have to be paid all at once, it could be done over a time period. Having seen the check and accompanying paperwork, I was inclined to believe what he was saying so I told him I could send $100.00 now, and then the remaining balance after the check arrived and cleared the bank. He said he would need at least $199.00 to ensure delivery. I said okay but that $200 would cause a strain on my budget. I then said I could comply with that but would need to speak to my wife first. I travelled home and spoke to my wife (who is skeptical about many things) and showed her the email Freddie Benjamin had sent me. She looked it over, spoke to him briefly on the phone, and then ended the call so we could talk it over. I took the dogs out for a walk and let Kellie (my wife) mull it over in her head for a bit. While I was out, Kellie went online to the website mentioned in the letter, the New York State Lottery Commission. It was all over their legal division to watch out for scammers making claims by using a phone, email, text, or the postal system.
We brought that to Mr Benjamin's attention when he called us back and he attempted to discredit the government website as being misleading and he was not who they were talking about. We told him the way we were seeing it, and we were not sending him any money.
That was my experience.
