We got stuck in the Charlotte airport due to flight delays. USAir would not comp our night and said all hotels were booked due to the NASCAR race. I went to Kayak .com and found many hotels listed but preferred t speak with a lice person. One hotel was a Dubletree. So I Yahoo'd them to get a phone #.

They said the Doubletree was booked, but said "we have other properties by the airport. Would you like us to check them too?" I said sure. The first hotel offered was a LaQuinta (I had no idea they were associated with Doubletree, but seemed willing to help. While taking my information, that room booked up. Then while he was looking for another hotel, we got disconnected.

I called back and got someone different. She found a Holiday Inn wit an airport shuttle. I told her to book it immediately. She told me, "I have your reservation. I will send it via email. I am going to put you on hold to confirm the shuttle time."

My reservation confirmation arrived saying I was at the Best Western. I called back and got a 3rd person. It was then I validated that I was NOT talking with anyone associated with Doubletree. I was talking with ReservationDesk, aka ReservatioCounter, aka Choose-a-Room.

After 15 minutes of on hold, I finally hung up, and called back. I asked for and ultimately demanded a refund because the Best Western was a 15 mile – a $50+ taxi ride one way - from the airport. He said they could not because it was beyond the cancellation policy of the hotel that night. After I told them this was a bait and switch , they said I could escalate a case with them, which I did. He told me they would pull the phone recording to validate my assertion within 24 to 48 hours. Now, 9 days later and 2 follow up calls, they are telling me the same thing.

I recognize that I will never get any compensation form them, but hope my story saves someone else the aggravation. I see now that the link I used was an ad, and not from Doubeltree. This company is in India. Not that all companies in India are bad, but these guys are a scam. Every agent sings form the same hymnal.
