A kid, Logan Fanning, came to my door yesterday. Said he was from the neighborhood and was earning money for an internship at the BBC. He was highly social, knowledgeable about the area, and about the industry. Stuck to his story and nothing seemed off. There wasn't any pressure or "red flags" at any point... although in retrospect the license he showed me and the catalog materials were confusing and low quality. And so I wrote him a check for some overpriced magazines and books.
Then I Googled the company, immediately found all the scam alerts. Even found his Facebook page bragging about the "mad money" he is making selling magazines. Found a mugshot of one of the other employees of Expedition Sales LLC. Cancelled my checks, sent in the refund in the mail.
