I received a telephone call at 1 p.m. this afternoon from Magazine Publishers Service and was advised that I owed them $632.50. Right away, the caller told me that my payment was overdue and I needed to pay now or my account would go to collections!!

This is the first time that I have heard from MPS so I had no idea of what she was talking about.

I asked her for the details and several times I had to press her for them before she finally said that it was for their 3 year magazine subscription.

Then, later in the conversation, she told me that the subscription was for 1 year, of 12 payments, for their magazines. The caller said that I agreed to this via telephone 4 to 16 weeks earlier.

After some back and forth, I asked her for a specific date and more details and she finally said that I had agreed to purchase this subscription via their telephone call to me on July 21, 2014. I told her that I had no memory of agreeing to this purchase and she said that she had me on voice mail agreeing to the purchase.

I told her that I had no memory of making this purchase (which I don't) and that I wanted to cancel this subscription now. She advised me that I could not because I had already committed myself to this order back in July. I advised her that I have received no paper-work from this regarding this order and that I wanted her to send me a bill that included all the details first before I send them any money. She said that she would send me a bill. Now, I will wait to see if I get a bill from them before I do anything else regarding payment.

What a deceptive, tricky bunch of so-and-so's!!! I am so disgusted with their use of such underhanded tactics!!
