Hi all,

I would like to report a scam which is currently in operation.

Im selling a van and have advertised it in numerous places online, gumtree being one of them.

I recieved a text message from a guy who had seen my van on gumtree and wanted to know details about the van/price ect. I told him id advertised it at £2000 but would be willing to accept any serious offers that came my way. a few hours later i received an email from the guy which went as follows......

l'm buying it for my son as a gift, presently working on offshore at the moment,
I started in 1987 in United Kingdom and although most of my work
has been here in Brazil, recently up north in the oil sands, l have through
the year, also worked in Mexico,US and offshore in New Zealand.
I won't be able to Inspect due to the nature of my work overseas ,would 've love to
call in person but satellite server has been down which restrict calls.
l'll contact my courier agent to contact you for pick it up and deliver it in my place.
Plz get back to me with your paypal details in order for me to make
payment to you cos that my only method of payment.

I responded to this guy informing him i was only accepting cash, i then decided to google this guys email address to see if any information was available relating to it....
it seems there are numerous reports linked to this email address and whomever is using it is a scam artist. they pay you thru paypal and then when they have whatever it is you have sold they report that they have been hacked and money has disappeared from their account. the seller then has the funds taken back from paypal and the scammer has got whatever for free and your left out of pocket.

BEWARE PEOPLE UNLESS YOU ARE SELLING ONLINE VIA A SECURE SELLING SITE THAT PROTECTS SELLERS, DO NOT ACCEPT ANY MEANS OF PAYMENT OTHER THAN CASH!!!!
