A guy called saying he was calling from the Federal Government and that I was selected to receive a $9,000 grant for having a good record being a citizen of the U.S. I thought the call was fishy but I listened. I told him how do I know this is not a scam - listen Ms. just go to:
www.usagovernmentgrants.org/Personal_Grants.html and then he told me to click on FAQ/Eligiblity. He asked do you see the flags on both sides and I said yes. Then he proceeded to tell me what needed to be done and that was providing him with a credit card, gift card, etc. so the monies could be loaded into that account. Yes, being naive I gave him my information. He then said a guy by the name of Parker would call me to give me instructions on what to do have have the funds loaded and received within twenty-five minutes, but needed a $195 processing fee. While this was going on I clicked on another tab and googled better business bureau and realized it was a scam. So at that point I told him I was not interested as I had no money to give and if I were receiving this grant why should I pay. So I told him I was no longer interested. He said buy why not it's free money and I said sorry not inerested.

I immediately got on the phone and called my bank to cancel my credit card.

I do feel sorry for those that have lost money, but I have learned my lesson to check on scam information or better business bureau first and also have learned through a daughter of mine that is in the military - nothing like this would be done over the phone or internet. The government would send a letter instead. One thing I also learned from my daughters is the https means secured website, if the s doesn't end the http it is not a secure site which is something that will come in handy in the future.
