A young, Caucasian lady came knocking on the door and said she was trying to win points by going door to door in my apartment complex and the other ones in the neighborhood. She said she is trying to win a trip to Italy and was very friendly. She asked to use our table and came right into the apartment. She was asking for donations for books to local charities. I said I wanted to donate books to the Children's Hospital that I work at and she took down the address and everything. She insisted going to the ATM to get money out, but I had to go meet a friend and didn't have the time so I offered to write a check. She said to give her half in cash so I did so, but more than half was in cash since "the children will be able to get the books faster". I didn't feel comfortable and then I searched about the company when I got back from buying groceries and saw other complaints of scam and now I feel awful. There won't be books coming into the hospital ;__; I asked some of my neighbors to make sure they didn't get scammed either.
