My husband and I were looking at San Diego beach houses to rent to celebrate our marriage with family and friends. We responded to an add that looked ideal that we could afford. We corresponded with an individual named Benjamin Chang who emailed us pictures and info about the property on the beach, we then decided that we wanted to rent, so he sent us the contract along with the info on how to reserve the property...we've never dealt with fraud before so it didn't raise any flags when they gave us a bank account to wire the money. We stupidly did this, they then emailed confirmation and a receipt but the dates were wrong so when we realized we asked for a corrected receipt which they promised we would receive but never sent. The name we sent the payment to was Henri C. Hessels, the bank is called Wood Forest National Bank. We contacted them and they said the funds in the account to which we sent $1600.00 is no longer available so obviously we've been scammed and now won't be able to afford to really celebrate getting married! But something has to be done. What can we do?? I've filed a complaint with the FTC and we've tried to contact Benjamin Chang with no response... Please help any recommendations from people who've been through this would be great!
