When I applied for Section 8 assistance for rentals in San Jose, CA. this evening, I completed the form for an application. The next page suggested the Housing Authority wanted the applicant to get a credit score prior to completing the application. Think Credit Reports.com came up immediately. It stated that could use a credit card to charge $1.00, which would be refunded by them. If the consumer did not cancel the 7 day trial within that time limit, this company would charge $29.99 each and every month for credit monitoring. I put in my card number and all pertinent info., but the credit scores never came up. I tried and tried. I feel the Housing Authority here in San Jose, CA. is also at fault for allowing this to be attached to their application !!! I cannot reach anyone at the email address given for support.
