International boundaries

They are posting ads to sell Rosetta Stone software but state they only use Paypal and ship (won't meet in person yet claim to be local or nearby). They send an invoice for the amount agreed upon via Paypal and you pay it. Unfortunately you miss that they misrepresented the item on the invoice as a service, rather than a product. This takes away your Buyer Protection because it was incorrectly listed as a service rather than a tangible product. They get the money, you are out the money with no product and YOU ARENT PROTECTED BY PAYPAL!!

  • As an update, I filed a claim with Paypal explaining the situation requesting one of two possible resolutions: either correct the invoice to reflect my purchase of a tangible item and ship the item (which if they had made a simple mistake this would be the best and easiest choice) or refund my money. The end result was they did refund the money. Buyer Beware.
