I was solicited on the phone for a home business blog by Mike Schiller, representing Absolute Marketing. I was initially charged $200 for a website construction, then later contacted by their advertising associate James McCracken, who pressure pitched me that I would need to spend significantly more (ultimately $500) for an advertising campaign & plug-ins to make it profitable. I was told I could expect approxiamtely $400. to $500. a week. The website was well built for me, & I was told I had the option to take over, & pay the hosting fees ($10. a month) myself in three years, after my contract to write for them was fulfilled. Under our agreement they were to provide free hosting for 3 years. That was about 1 year & 9 months ago. I never made more than $20. total, but I still blogged regularly, & upheld my end of the contract. I accepted the writing as experience, when suddenly, a few days ago, my Wordpress access was blockaded by HostGator, presumably for non-payment of fees. Now it seems, no one from Absolute Marketing can be reached. The email address for Russell Jackson (the only one of the group who ever gave me any real assistance)is completely extinct, & the phone numbers are either busy, or ring unanswered. I've also recently discovered this page, & many others with the exact same complaints. I had long ago given up on making any money, but I still attracted a large fan base for my writing. At this point, I mainly care about recovering all my writing on the website, but they never shared with me the pin numbers of it's account with HostGator, so I can't even pay them to recover it, & host it myself. Everything I wrote is unobtainable, & over 1200 followers are abruptly abandoned without closure or explanation.
