I was on Amazon, and a survey popped up, which I answered, and was then offered a free gift. (Thinking this was Amazon gave it credibility.) I chose an Apple iPod Shuffle and agreed to pay $3 shipping by credit card. I was sent a receipt for this, which I printed.
A day or two later, I saw a charge for $65 from Bidou Bids next to the $3 charge. I wrote to complain and asked for the charge to be reversed. I got a reasonably prompt response (from Margie) saying that because I had used the service then it could not be refunded. But they had kindly cancelled my ongoing membership (presumably more $65s) for future months.
This membership was not solicited, not offered, and obviously not receipted. In my view, not a legal transaction.
I have asked VISA to resolve, which may take several weeks.
