In 2011, AT&T represented that the company would soon place a cell tower in Wisdom, MT, influencing me to purchase an Impulse SmartPhone while entering into a 2 year Smartphone contract. A year later, there was still no tower near my home, and I also discovered that my Smartphone was operating off of my apartment and employer's Wi-Fi, rather than AT&T 3G signal, while I was in town.
When I confronted AT&T with these facts, the service representative "credited" my account with several hundred dollars to compensate for my overpayment for services not rendered.
However, when I AT&T transferred my account to StraightTalk, they refused to rebate the remaining balance in my AT&T Customer account, because (I am quoting the service rep.) "Credits are not money. We never send a check for the balance on a closed account."
