I spotted an internet company called"Stilhaus Kitchens Warrington".I am a qualified carpenter and run my own building company, and have done for more years than i care to remember. Anyway,
Whilst looking at their web page i spotted the solid oak kitchen with granite tops, breakfast bar etc. At first i just couldn't believe my eyes!!. and thought that it must be ex display/ stock liquidation, and was walking round the house just mumbling "I don't believe it!!', much to the annoyance of my wife. Now rememer i've been in this game a while, so i rang the number supplied and said that i was interested in the oak kitchen on their main page and i would like to buy the exact kitchen in the picture but would they please answer a couple of pertinent questions about the kitchens.

(1) are the kitchens ex display /liquidated stock? Answer: new
(2) thickness of carcase (eg 15mm or 18 mm)? Answer: 18mm
(3) are they chipboard or mdf? Answer: chipboard with every edge covered
(4) clearance at back of units (for pipeworks) Answer: Yes
(5) leg ajustment ? Answer: Yes
(6) are the cabinet backs hardboard or 18mm, same as the sides? Answer: 18mm same as the sides.

Anyway, you get the drift. It just didn’t seem to add up, that kicthen i was looking at is a 15 grand kitchen all day long, the granite alone would normally be the best part of 2 grand. As they say ” If it looks too good to be true........it usually IS ! …but I got a surprise in this case…EVERYTHING was exactly as promised. I have no idea how they could afford to sell at this price, especially as the worktops WERE granite, and I only paid a nominal deposit of 50 quid. I didn’t pay another penny until it was all delivered and I had checked that everything I ordered had been sent. They took ALL of the risk, I risked nothing.
So, If in doubt, do what I did...give them 50 quid and order your kitchen. Make sure that your kitchen fitter is there to check your kitchen when it arrives, if possible. (obviously, in my case it was myself) and DON’T pay unless you are happy that you have been sent exactly what you ordered. The worst that can happen is you have paid 50 quid for what I know to be an excellent kitchen design and 2 hours of a kitchen designers time. The best case scenario is that, like me, you end up with quality kitchen for a fraction of other prices I was quoted.

Other bits of advice I can offer are to first get a couple of quotes from a kitchen company near you, and then ask for a quote from this company.
you can save yoursef a few quid by buying your kitchen flat packed but unless you are installing the units yourselves then this is a false economy as the fitter is just going to charge you to make the units up.
Don't try and fit the kitchen yourself if you are not extremely competent with power tools and you know what you are doing. At the end of the day it's a specialist job, so steer clear unless your really confident.
Get a qualified carpenter or joiner (like myself) to do the job, it will work out cheaper.

  • I also ordered a kitchen from Stilhaus Kitchens, Warrington and decided to go with them mainly because I realised that the terms of their contract meant that they take ALL the risk (don't pay a penny until all delivered and checked and if anything is missing, I don't pay, I just send back the order and await for full delivery). Those seem very fair terms to me. That way, I’m not gambling with my money. Here’s hoping the quality is as good as they’ve promised but I’ll know soon enough as I take delivery on Monday so I’ll post an update if anyone’s interested

  • I’d like to make a point about a kitchen I bought. Despite reading some bad reviews about Stilhaus Kitchens Warrington, I have read just as many if not more good reviews, and as a lot of the ‘bad’ ones were from ’anonymous’ or lacked details other than saying they were scammers, I opted to get a quote from them and eventually decided to place an order after being swayed by their prices, their promised quality and also their ‘Minimal Deposit, Minimum risk’ Scheme. In general I got a very satisfying service from them and I am definitely convinced I got the best value from the money that I spent. Our kitchen and the fitters cost just over £2500 and it's not a tiny kitchen. We paid a minimal hundred pounds deposit , and the rest in cash on delivery after our fitter had cheked everything off against our order sheet. We had been quoted £5000-£8000minimum by other companies and to buy just a flat pack kitchen would have cost us £2600 and then would have to hire fitters. So all in all value for money is amazing! A definite recommend to family and friends!...
this is the 2nd time i have commented on a complaints page, because I think people should also say when they are happy

  • Reading your post, I decided to visit their website and asked a few question on the quality of their kitchen via email. This is the reply to my email when I asked how their kitchens are different from other suppliers.

“…….. I would like to mention that every single component that goes into making our cabinets are edged on all four sides, which prevents moisture ever entering the interior of the panels and therefore suggesting durability. No other kitchen company edges every panel and component on all four sides. We use more than double the amount of edging tape on our units than those offered by B&Q, Ikea, Howdens and other large kitchen companies. Not only do we use more edging tape but we also make our edging tape from shock absorbant PVC unlike other kitchen companies that only use paper edging tape. Our edging tape is five times thicker than the paper edging tape used by our competitors. The hanging brackets used for hanging our wall units are 100% metal, unlike our competitors that use a flimsy plastic hanging bracket……”

Knowing this, can anyone tell me whether what is written in this email is true or not?

    Thanks in advance…

  • I can’t vouch for how it will look fitted yet, but if you look at my post above, you’ll see I’m getting my kitchen delivered today (Mon 25th Nov) so I can certainly answer the questions you’ve asked to verify whether they told the truth about the quality. Its not looking good at the moment as they said they’d deliver about 9am. Its nearly that time now and there’s no sign of them yet...

  • Right, it's arrived. They said the traffic was bad and were 40 minutes late but im going to forgive them. I took some advice from itvtheferret forum and got one of the fitters to check everything off properly as it came off the van so its just taken ages. He's on with putting the cabinets together and here's the answers to most of your questions (and mine) about quality;
    edged all four sides..........yes
shock absorbent edge, not paper tape...yes
5 times thicker than competition....don't know
12.5mm solid cabinet backs, not hardboard...yes
    (my question)
As far as we can tell everything has arrived and is just as good, if not better than we thought it would be.Obviously I'll know better if there are any problems once its fitted but as far as delivery, number of items and quality are concerned i can't fault this company. I have paid the driver and I am over the moon. One of the quotes I had was almost double the price for the same kitchen, but with hardboard backs. I've been fretting about this delivery since I placed my order because not all the reviews I'd read were good but they've made good on all they have promised, and the rest is up to the fitters. I hope this helps

  • If its anything like the one my sister got from Stilhaus kitchens itll look great. the designer sounded a bit over the top with his speel so I had to wander could he genuinely back up his boast of being the cheapest in the UK if not the world AND the best value, but I was pleasantly surprised at the result my sister achieved buying from them. I couldn't believe the price they supplied her kitchen for...£795 including oven, the hob and the fume extractor, and they took all the risk. Apart from a £50 holding deposit she didn't part with a penny until the delivery guy dropped it at her house. I know because I helped her check every item before she paid him

  • This sounds like what I've been looking for. I’ve been checking out reviews and forums because I want to buy a kitchen, putting in the names of companies I've been told will give me a good deal. Here's the problem.....They ALL seem to have bad reviews and I'm worried. They all want paying up front before they'll even deliver as much as a drawer handle, let alone the rest of my kitchen. You'd think it'd be safe to go with one of the major national companies, but I've checked on WHICH and some of them have complaint rates as high as 50% of their customers....and they want paying up front too! It's a lot of money to risk in what seems to be a minefield for anybody looking to buy. I know I've got to risk my money somewhere, but I've no idea how anybody decides on a company...anybody got any more tips?

  • Hi Stephen, I'm a happy customer of StilHaus Kitchens (stilhauskitchens.com), I would like to recommend them to you because your worry about risking your money doesn’t apply with them.

These are the reasons why they are so great. First of all, they gave me the cheapest quote (compared to other kitchen suppliers), yet their quality is something that is far from what we call cheap. Their price was even 50% cheaper than some other suppliers. Imagine, for the identical kitchen, they only ask you to pay half price.

Secondly, for your whole kitchen, you would only be asked 50 quid deposit. Their terms of payment stated that you would only pay the rest of the price after you received and checked your whole kitchen. Your risk is limited to 50 pounds of your money. Get a quote and see what you think.

  • No kitchen company I’ve ever heard will deliver a kitchen for only 50 pounds deposit. That sounds too good to be true. Are you sure it’s not a scam?

  • How on earth can it be a scam if this company is willing to let you pay for your kitchen after it has been delivered?
Please can you explain to me how this scam works?
I have looked at many kitchen companies and every single one of them wants the full balance upfront well before delivery. All the big companies want your money atleast six weeks before they deliver it. It really doesnt make sense that if it were a scam that they would let you check everything and only after you are satisfied do you pay. Infact it is the furthest away from a scam than it could possibly be.
Lets look at what this company actually does before you pay for your kitchen.
    1. They spend money advertising
2.They send a designer round to your home to design a kitchen for you which must involve petrol expense, designers wages, paper work and obviously the every day expense of running a vehicle.
Now remember that not everyone is going to buy so they must have to visit a few homes before they get a deposit. Now every comment that i have read about mentions deposits of £50 or £100 so if at that stage they were to do a moonlight with your deposit then surely it would be a money losing scam for them . Next step for this company is that they get your kitchen ready or they make it or whatever they do and then they load it onto a van and they drive to your home with it. Now at this stage they have forked out
3.Factory workers wages and warehouse workers wages.
    4.Office staff wages
    5.Driver wages
    6.Fuel for the van
    7.General expense of running a van including tax,insurance,ware and tare,depreciation etc,etc
So far this company has gone to considerable expense for a fifty or one hundred pound deposit. Then they invite you to inspect it before you pay for it. Would B&Q ALLOW YOU THIS OPPORTUNITY?It seems to me that it is impossible for this to be a scam.

  • As a carpenter, can you explain this...
You said "i spotted the solid oak kitchen".
You said "are they chipboard or mdf? Answer: chipboard with every edge covered".
How does THAT work?! Solid oak means just that, solid oak, not chipboard. Screams 'scam' to me!

  • I am doing research for kitchen if you search for Stilhaus Kitchen Review on google and go to page 3 onwards. You will see that they use a BOT to create review threads on different forum and each have a positive review. This itself scream scams to me.

I have no doubt that positive comment left here by Alex, Oilver, Dean and who ever might be are just more fake accounts created by the company.

    Please do be aware.

  • This is ridiculous - as ming said, and proved by the SBID# on every poster's post - Stephen and Samual, and Dean, Annabel and John are all posting from the same computers on different accounts, or should I say from several computers but using the same computers/IPs as each other, probably just different computers in the same office. A reputable internet-based company shouldn't be taking part in such obviously fake promotion of the company that has hired/paid for them to do it. If there are genuine customers out there that have good reviews, they should be able to submit them somewhere but clearly an SEO company has chewed up all the domains and spat them out, as well as making various blogs and articles to get the website up the rankings. Stil haus kitchens - if you are watching - this is known as Black hat! And you need help!

  • This company were professional and helpful throughout the whole process of having a new kitchen fitted. From choosing the units, sink and appliances to the end of fitting everything went very smoothly. They were in touch with us all the way and kept us fully updated with delivery times and dates, survey and fitting dates. The fitter was friendly, efficient, but thorough, and trustworthy. The kitchen itself is of very high quality and we are very happy with it. Would definitely recommend this company, thanks
