I get a message from ISP (COMCAST/InFiNet) that says I have wrong version of browser. To update, click here, which I do. Turns out I get a referral to NORTON Security Site (which as a Comcast customer I get for free).
I was given the 888.401.5749 number by COMCAST as part of FREE service by Comcast. Norton rep (AJ) takes over control of my system and does IMMEDIATE analysis, "system hacked". He proceeds to SHOW ME all files infected and IMMEDIATELY offers to fix it for ONLY $$199.99 for first computer and since I have two computers DOUBLE that number. Plus...a PRINTER I have is listed and offer to FIX it for only $149.99.About $500 of work diagnosed in about 3 minutes???
I asked WHAT would they do...he brought up NOTEBOOK sticky pad note to list"internal security apps to be activated" (what is that??)...over 4,000 files to be replaced; browser to be upgraded through trusted site; dual layer LIFETIME firewall must be installed for continued protection; clean network completely.
I had "thought" I might be getting a scheme when I first heard this deal. When I asked for something in writing to think about it, I get the high pressure to do it IMMEDIATELY.
I am very disappointed in COMCAST for offering this HUSTLE to its customers.
I also called back Comcast, asked for supervisor and was told I would be getting a callback in a few hours...what a shock...no call!
This is a HUSTLE...watch your wallets and charge accounts.

  • Are you able to get your money back? Similar/same happened to me (see my post of Oct. 30). I am still working on trying to get my money back and am also going to report them to the FBI Internet Fraud. They are NOT going to get away with this if I can help it!
