The President of Avangate is Carl Theobald and the email below was send to him. It explains the scam his company runs.
*****************
Sir,

If this reaches you then you and your entire company should be ashamed of your horrible business practices of preying on home owners of laptops and PCs.

Getting to the point, my Mother is 90 years old. One of your “people” called her in FL and convinced her of allowing him to install software. I believe his name was NL Amstelveen.

My Mom explained that her computer was immediately affected and I have spent 8 hours cleaning up the mess. I am ex-Oracle and know what I am doing. Some of the horrible applications installed include:

• IncrediMail
• Sweetpacks
• Plus-HD-1.3

If you Google any of the above you will see the problems each brings to the users. In searching Avangate complaints, the internet is loaded with them. I will being also reporting the scam as Mr. Amstelveen charged my Mom $248 for this intrusion.

You and companies like yours have no business preying on people who are not computer literature.

You make me sick ….
