My Mortgage with Bank of America went up by $700.00. they said my txes went up, so we fell behind. We tried going to the courthouse and having our property reassessed. Only then did we find out that it was less than hapf of what BOA said. when I called, they said that I was short in my escrow account. I asked for a detailed statement (like they send at the end of the year). 3 months went by, they finally sent it to me, all the while we are falling behind.
The statment shows that they reimbursed us of 2,100.oo in escrow money. I told them I never received that check. They looks, sure enough it was never cashed. Bank of America said we still had to pay because technically it wasn't their money. !?! That doesn't make sense - it wasn't sitting in my account, so it wasn't my money either!?!
I said, well put it to the balance, and they said we couldn't, that we had to be current, and then add it. After a year of paying $700.00 more for our mortgage, we couldn't do it! so they agreed to help us refinance (Affordable Loan Program) well - after it was all said and done, we owe $12,000 more than when we started, plus we paid a year of $700.00 more a month.....when the whole time, they held our money.....We couldn't afford to fight. That's big banking at it's best!
