This company contacted me in the middle of the night while I was in Asia. It appeared that my niece sent me a link to this company via Twitter, legitimizing the company in my not fully awake brain. My niece did NOT send the link. They usurped her Twitter account.

When I clicked on the link, I was taken to a web page extolling the virtues of the company by both unknown average Joes and celebrities. The articles claimed to be from legitimate journals and news sources (The Economist, WSJ, etc). So, I clicked on the link to the company website. Previously, the information was that this was a company in which you sold services or links from home via the Internet for companies wanting to improve their search engine results. At that point the company was called Home Income Academy or One Hour Income. When I clicked on the link to sign up for the "free" program, I was taken to another page that still didn't clearly give the company name, but in order to access the "company" I had to download software. This is where the real name of the company shows up, Desktop Lightning. Now, they want money. In order to make it all work, I needed to sign up for additional help or "training." That way I could have a real person walk me through the setup & answer my questions. When I called the "training academy" I spoke at length with someone who tried to convince me to give them a minimum of $5000! If I didn't give this money I would not be selected for an opportunity to grow "my company." Oh, before I made the training call, I had to purchase the web hosting package, yet another company: Purely Hosting. They also tacked on additional fees that I didn't see until after they sent an invoice showing 6mos non-refundable service paid in full!
After the phone call, I was finally awake & contacted my bank to put a stop payment on the transactions. Unfortunately, because I'd used my debit card, my bank refused and paid out the money to these scam artists. This organization is very clever in that I'm still not entirely sure what the company name is as it shows up on my bank statement using 3 different names, none of which are Desktop Lightning.
