International boundaries

NewsMax regularly broadcasts a long interview with one of the conservative, scaremongering authors of a book called "Aftershock." Throughout the broadcast, they repeat that you can get a free copy of the book, if you listen all the way through. Only at the very end do they tell you you will also have to pay $47 for a year's subscription to Newsmax's "The Financial Investor's Report"--but that you can cancel your subscription at any time and receive a full credit for your $47.
I signed on, deciding to cancel my $47 subscription as soon as possible, and thereby receive their touted "free" book.
I have now learned that my credit card will be charged for $97, with no explanation as to where the extra $50 came from. (During my "processing" time, Newsmax kept making other offers, up to $395.)
I shall phone and email, if necessarily write them tomorrow, to be certain I get out of their unethical hold--and try to warn others against them.
