I am an ecommerce professional with over 10 years experience in SEO, PPC, website design and digital marketing. I am also a fully qualified professional marketer and Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
I purchased a website from Yourownstore at the end of 2011 and it quickly became clear that as well as grossly overpromising the prospects of success (exaggerated conversion rate calculations), Yourownstore was supplying it's customers with software that enabled the manipulation of google rankings.
Google was subsequently able to detect the use of this software and I suspect that anyone that had a Yourownstore website was doomed and Google applied penalties to such sites.
After a month of running and marketing the site, it became apparent that I would need 1.5 million visits per month in order to make the money that Yourownstore had promised. Clearly an impossibility.
I raised my concerns with Jason and the team at YOS but whilst always appearing helpful, they were not willing to concede that there was an issue or offer a refund.
