This is something going on, on Craigslist nationwide. Anyone who is unemployed and uses craigslist job board to find a job is becoming a victim of this scam and it is unbelievably widespread. Affiliate marketers of creditreport.com are posting fake jobs on craigslist and when you apply you get a reply from someone saying they are with the HR department from some bogus company and they are interested in setting up an interview with you, but first they need you to click on this link they provide to get a free credit report due to either working with company credit cards or for some other bogus reason. When you click on the link you are automatically sent to creditreport.com. They tell you that in order to get this credit score you have to sign up for a 14 day free trial, but you MUST put in your credit card number in order to get your score. If you do not cancel the trial membership within that 14 days your credit card is charged for a monthly premium.

I have had this happen to me TEN TIMES in a week when applying to different jobs on craigslist and EVERY time it ends up right back at credit report.com. I made a complaint with creditreport.com and got a reply that this was just one rogue affiliate and they wanted to get to the bottom of it, but that is pure BS. I have read hundreds of complaints on various complaint boards from people all over the country being scammed by this very company when applying to a job on craigslist, so this is anything but one rogue affiliate. These people are being taught to do this and the replies are way too professsional looking and widespread to be one or a few rogue affiliates.

Those of us, who are unemployed, are having a hard enough time finding work and these vultures are preying on us and have to be stopped. Please, please, please, if this happens to you, contact creditreport.com and complain and copy and paste the EXACT message you got from these scammers into your complaint. Also do as I did and file a complaint about this with both the FBI IC3 cyber fraud unit and the FTC and make sure you tell them that the company creditreport.com is the one involved and again copy and paste the exact scam email that you got. If enough of us do this maybe they will be forced to finally do something about these people and put an end to this fraud. Also let them know that craigslist is involved in this and refuses to do anything about it.

The only way that we the unemployed are going to put a stop to being victimized by this is to do more than just make complaints on boards like this. One other thing that can possibly be done to draw attention to this is to see if one of your local TV station's news has a call for action number where you make reports on what is going on on craigslist. We need to get this out there across the country and stop this (Inappropriate Content Removed).
