I purchased a cell phone from Verizon Wireless that carried a $50.00 "rebate". My rebate came in the form of a Visa debit card for $50.00. Upon trying to deposit this "rebate" into my checking account from which i paid for the phone to begin with, the teller at the bank advised i was unable to do so and would have to use it as though i would a debit card. I'd like to know what sevices or benefits Verizon is receiving that prompts them to issue "rebates" in this form. Something from Visa or Mastercard perhaps ? Part of my reason to purchase this particular phone was because of the rebate that was offered. As I see it, this is MY $50.00 that should be issued in the form of a check to be spent or deposited as I see fit. I feel I am being forced to spend it in a manner I dont want to.
