I applied for a mortgage with Capital One in April. They told me 3.5 would be locked in and the closing costs would be around 1000.00
I filled out the forms and scanned back. Every form I scanned to them took about a week to receive. Then it had to go to underwriters to see if it was valid. Of course it was never enough information. Many times they could not find what I sent and had to look all over. Some times the information was totally lost. After I sent three verifications of a bank amount they still wanted more information. I talked to at least 10 people (whose names and dates I have recorded) Emails were lost and I had several emails that I was sending information too. I never knew who was getting what or what was going on. They said since it went over the 60 days I would have to pay extra at closing to hold the rate. I reluctantly said 'OK.' Last Friday the person told me it was still locked in at 3.5. Then I received a call on tues (7-2-13) that it was no longer available to me. I would have to go to the4%. I felt that was totally unfair. They had lied to me and it was a scam all along. Today 7-5-13 I called about the 4% and now they tell me the closing will be $8400.00 This is so crazy and ridiculous. This has been going on for months and they should be investigated and no one should have to go through what I have gone through. Months of calls and scans and texts and now I did not get the rate they promised and I have to pay huge closing costs.
