I received a phone call from CountryWide Periodicals. They told me that I had signed up with their company awhile back and now I am one of the lucky winners selected to be part of a $1 million giveaway. I had recently left my job in publishing, so I assumed that this had something to do with my previous job (perhaps I had signed up with this company for a job-related assignment). I kept asking for more information about when I signed up with this company and who they are... the man was stumbling on this words, so a woman picked up. She started spewing out a bunch of information at me, saying that I could receive 3 magazines for $3.60 a month... of course, that wasn't the actual deal. She also said that I won a free watch. She was speaking very fast and in confusing language. I noticed the $3.60 charge on my credit card, but then I started receiving $66 charges. I called them up and tried to cancel. They said that they have a 3-day cancellation policy and that I cannot cancel. I asked to speak with a manager. The manager was no help. 8 weeks went by and I did not receive any magazines. I called my bank and had the bank call CountryWide Periodicals while I was on the phone with them. They refused to cancel my subscription. I stopped my credit card after I had lost about $200 to CountryWide Periodicals. Now they keep harassing me on the phone. I receive numerous phone calls during the week, even multiple phone calls on the same day. They call me with different numbers to try to trick me into picking up. Now I don't pick up the phone for any unknown number. I already paid them $200... I want this company to leave me alone now! I don't want the magazines, and I have tried many times to cancel.
