I contacted Dave Woods, owner of Mobile Mortgage, after seeing his advertisements regarding Home Loan Modification. We met in his home office where I brought the personal documents he said he would need in order to go to Bank of America on my behalf to get my interest rate reduced. Keep in mind we are not idiots who purchased a home out of their range with a variable interest rate that came due and doubled in cost. We are hard working Americans who have had a construction business go under in difficult economic times. We had virtually no credit card debt (our balances combined were less than $1000 at the time). When we met at Daves office he told us he could not make copies of our documents while we waited. He saud he would have his assistant Leslie Miller do that in the morning then she would return the documents to us. Dave assured us that with our situation we should be a shoe in to get our rate dropped dramatically. He verbally guaranteed us a rate of less than 2%. We wrote a check for a deposit and left his office confident that we would finally be able to get a little bit ahead. We made arrangements to meet at "His Bank" where I would take a cash advance on my credit card to pay the difference. After I filled the forms out and had the bank pay me the cash for the advance against my credit card Dave made a comment to the effect of "oops, I forgot my receipt book and I am on the way to a meeting so I will mail one to you tomorrow" He made the statement in front of a banker so I felt confident that I would have a receipt with a day or two. Needless to say I never received a receipt, and to this day I have never received my personaly documents back which I needed for quarterly taxes. I contacted the Better Business Bureau regarding the theft of my money. The attempted to contact Mr. Woods but he never returned their calls. I contacted Mr Woods on several occasions, as well as his assistant Ms Miller I was assured they were making headway and we should get a modification at any time. Then the calls turned into voice mails. I left messages that were not returned. After a couple months I contacted Bank of America directly. Once I got through to the right department I was told that Ms Miller called the bank ONE time and was beligerant and that was it, no letters, no negotiations. Nothing, Nada, Zilch, Zip. These people are vultures and they stole from me, and I am sure, many other hard working Americans. Shame on them! I want my money back, but I doubt I will ever see it. I believe in Kharma, so while I may never see my money, these people have stolen so they will pay in the long run.
