We booked a trip to Guatemala and Belize and in Belize it was pure hell, first our guide had an old 2000 car and had a flat tire, the second day, we travelled 53 miles on unpaved roads right after breakfast, I felt sick the next day on the 24th with the same guide and his 2000 model car on the way to the airport, again his car broke down and we had to wait in the 107F degree in the car for help, we thought we would miss our flight, pure hell, never again. My name is Mark Stromberg and I am the Manager of Guest Support for Brendan Vacations. Client satisfaction is very important to us and we are pleased to address these issues. As Gert and Suzanne did not contact Brendan Vacations directly with their concerns, I would like to respond to them on this forum.
First of all we are very sorry for the inconvenience and discomfort encountered by Gert and Suzanne. Nothing can ruin a vacation faster that unexpected interruptions such as described. Our product manager has contacted our partner in Belize and asked if a newer model vehicle is available for use on this segment and if so we will mandate this going forward. From the description it seems that Gert and Suzanne were on Brendan Vacations “Boutique Journey” Maya Legacy with a Belize Extension. A major part of this extension (as described in our literature) is a “Drive to Xuantunich the ‘Maiden of the Rock’ a ruined city sprawling across a high plateau. You’ll also drive deep through the jungle to the ancient Maya capitol of Caracol, less well-known as Tikal but just as enticing.” As to the latter part, airport transfers are also part of this tour, and we are pleased to know that the delay did not cause them to miss their departing flight.
While I am sure that Gert and Suzanne can recognize that the condition of the roads and the climate are beyond the control of Brendan Vacations, we would like to offer them a goodwill gesture of a future travel credit valid on their next vacation with Brendan. If they or their travel agent will contact me at [email protected], I will be pleased to send this out to them.
