Received flyer in the mail by this company. Called and was told by Mike Aloia that our mortgage holder was being investigated for fraud and that we would most likely receive $20,000 in damages and would have the deed to our house signed over free and clear. We were told that 95% of the cases they handle were successful in being awarded the property deed and anywhere from $20,000 to $60,000 in damages, depending on the state you reside in. We agreed to a forensic home loan audit to be performed by this company. After paying them $500.00, we were sent a template questionnaire to be mailed to our mortgage holder. We mailed the questionnaire to the mortgage holder, requesting copies of the original loan paperwork, which was promptly sent to us by them within 8 days. We were then told to fax the paperwork to Mike Aloia, who called us the next morning and informed us we had a case and would definitely get our house free and clear plus $20,000 in damages.
But we would need to pay GPS FHLA $3,500.00 more first.
At this point, I became suspicious of this company's intent. I did research on the internet and discovered this process is the latest scam in the home loan industry. I called Mike Aloia and began to question him about the forensic home loan audit process. He got upset with me for simply wanting answers to legitimate questions, started yelling at me and then hung up on me. I immediately contacted my bank and cancelled the debit card that was used to pay the $500 to FHLA. My husband was called by Mike Aloia and told to proceed without me, that he did not need my permission to continue the forensic audit process. When he refused to turn over any more money, he was also yelled at and hung up on by Mr. Aloia.
We requested our $500 back on March 8, 2013 and were told by a Mr. Brian Richards that since he provided a "service" to us, he would not return the $500.00.
