What I wanted to report as damages was:
Membership extended and credit for charges of services not requested. However this wouldn't go through.. so I realized I had to give a monetary amount. $100 is for 4 $25 charges and $20 is for a pro-rated amount of the membership I've lost since they locked my account.

The Claim:

3/24/13 (unable to add date above)

Because Reverbnation.com (a Promotion Company for musicians, singer-songwriters) was offering a week
free to promote a song, I decided to promote a Christmas song that had a special messsage. I sent them an email the day I saw the promotion (Nov.1st), stating that I wanted the promotion to start on Nov. 15th and end in mid Dec. With the free week, that would have cost me $75, which is what I'd budgeted for this song. The same day I became a member of Revernation for $59.95. Soon after they sent me an email, stating they'd charged my credit card for $25. I wrote them right away that it was to start on November 15th, and why wasn't the first week free as advertised. I got a form-type email back that if I wanted to cancel my subscription I'd need to do it online, that they couldn't cancel it for me. I wrote back that I didn't want to cancel my membership but instead have my promotion start the day I requested. That was the one mistake I made: not understanding that their "Pomote It" campaign was called a 'subsription'. I was busy & when they didn't respond, I didn't keep writing to them at that point. However when I realized they were charging me the weekly $25 charge and it was after Dec. 15th, I wrote to them again.. each week they did that. I would keep getting this form letter about cancelling my subscription, but still wasn't aware of what that meant. As I said I didn't want to cancel my membership, just have those charges stop coming as I was on a budget. On Dec 28th, when I received another email stating my CC had been charged $25 again, I called to see why they kept charging me. I was told I had to go online and cancel it myself. It is rather tricky to do, but I did it that day. In a subsequent email I was told I'd get a credit (pro-rated) for that one, but not for the other charges that were for weeks I didn't request... since I'd not cancelled those. They never did address the fact that I'd not received the free week. I then contacted my credit card company and cancelled 4 charges that were not ordered. When I learned they had locked me out of my account because of this, I called and learned I had to cancel the dispute in order to have my account unlocked, I did that very shortly after. I didn't agree with their rules or their tactics, but I did want to keep my account there since I'd spent nearly a week putting dozens of my songs and lyrics at their site. After I'd cancelled the dispute and the charges were reinstated I noticed they'd still not unlocked my account. Many emails and lots of frustration later I learned I had to send them proof that I'd paid those charges again. I sent a fax of my credit card statement which showed the four charges were paid again. They would not acknowledge that I'd sent that, even after I'd sent it 2 more times. Finally, I called & learned from one of the employees that it did get there. But when I spoke with the head of the billing dept., he said that wasn't what he needed for proof... that I had to have a letter stating the dispute was cancelled.
I told him most companies would accept a credit card statement as proof of payment. He insisted again, as he'd done evey time I ever spoke with him, that I'd committed a fraud and had to do things their way. This is not a way to talk to a client. He knew I had not committed a fraud, that it was a misunderstanding of terms (my not understanding what they meant by 'subscription'), yet he insisted on saying this to me so many times. If anyone is committing a fraud it is them. They claimed I'd had over 23,000 views at my site, yet I'd only received 9 new fans during that interim. I'm not a new artist, but a seasoned one and I know I'd have received that many fans and without any promotion. Like I said I just wanted to promote a Christmas song. I called the CC company again and learned they were not able to put the disputed charges that were cancelled in one letter, but each in a separate letter as they'd earlier sent. So I then faxed Reverbnation billing dept. all four letters that had one of the disputed charges notated in each of the letters. This still wasn't good enough for them and they've not unlocked my account. On March 6th, I wrote and told them if they did not have my account unlocked by that Friday, I had to other choice but to contact the Attorney General in NC, where they are located. I've not heard from them and my account is still locked. I knew I could also contact to the AG if I wrote to Scam book, but I've been very busy and unable to do this until now. I wish I could get money back but it seems that is impossible, so I believe I should get a credit for the charges for "Promote It" that I'd not ordered. Also they need to extend my membership for all these months (4) I've not been able to get into my account. It is extremely frustrating to me not to get into my account. Every day they send nice offers for things I'd like to do with my music (like a chance to get one of my songs in a film) and of course I can't take advantage of it when I can't get into my account. This situation determined that this be a long letter, but I think it shows I did everything they requested, but to no avail. How they run their business (as concerns disputes) might be legal but it is unfair and unethical. Thanks for any help you can give in this matter.
